this study sheds light on how three prominent Omani poets employed Myths in their works. The poets are Saif AlRahbi, Sama Issa Al Taie and Zahir Al Ghafri. The poets are listed in this study on the basis quantity of their printed works.
The study is in three Chapters :
Chapter One : Definitions and Patterns of the Myth
This Chapter is divided into two Sections, the first narrates definitions of the Myth both language and pattern wise, relativity of definitions and differences among critics over the choice of a certain definition to the Myth as well as the choice of a fixed critical definition which is yet to be agreed on.
Section two, however, studies Myth in Arab literature, its usage in traditional and modern poems. Critics' views on the various stages of usage have also been illustrated in this section.
Chapter Two: Sources of Myth in modern Omani poem :
This chapter reveals the sources from which the three poets extracted the myths they used in their works. It also deals with sources of Myths in Arabian and world literature, what each myth symbolizes and events surrounding the them as well as studies that explored these myths.
Chapter Three : Usage of Myths in modern Omani poem :
This Chapter is divided into three sections :
Section 1: Usage of Myth in Saif Al Rahbi's poetry. This section examines the three different levels in which Al Rahbi used the Myth namely; the simple, the deep and level of his own vision.
Section 2: Usage of Myth in Sama Issa Al Taei's poetry.
This section also examines the three different levels in which Al Taei used the Myth.
Section 3: Usage of Myth in Zahir Al Ghafri's poetry. This section also examines the three different levels in which AlGhafri used the Myth.
The study made a number of conclusions, most importantly :
1. The vast usage of myth in modern Omani poetry, its numerous
applications in the works of the three poets.
2. The variety of sources of myths.
