Abstract A Proposal To activate the Leadership Practices that support the professional learning communities in Schools of Public Education in the Sultanate of Oman This study aimed to present a proposal to activate the leadership practices that support the professional learning in schools of public education in the Sultanate of Oman. Through recognizing the real availability of the dimensions of the professional learning communities according to the measure of Oliver and others (Olivier, Hipp & Huffman, 2010) and recognizing the real availability of leadership practices that support learning communities professional in accordance with the standards of school leadership (ISLLC), according to the classification Pohl (Pohl, 2012).
To achieve the objectives of the study, it used the descriptive approach and the application of the measure of Oliver and others (Olivier, Hipp & Huffman, 2010), consisting of 52 items distributed on five axes (shared and supportive leadership, shared values and vision, collective learning and application, shared personal practices, supportive conditions- relationships). The study confirmed the veracity of the scale calculates the internal consistency and self-honesty, the value of reliability coefficient reaches total scale of (0.97), The scale was distributed among the sample that consisted of (249) administrative and technical and (726) teachers from public schools in North Shariqya region.
To analysis data, it used averages and standard deviations. The results of the study showed the following, the availability of the dimensions of professional learning communities in public schools of North shariqya region is middle level., but for the availability of leadership practices in support of the professional learning communities as school leadership standards (ISLLC), according to the discretion of the study sample turns out that they are all located moderately. In light of these results, the proposal has been conceived to activate leadership practices in support of the professional learning communities in schools of public education in the Sultanate of Oman.
