This study aims at identifying the effect of Cooperative learning method on the achievements of Preparatory 1st grade students for the principles of reciting the Holly Quran (Al Tajweed) and their acquisition of skills of recitation.
The sample of this study contained 75 students from Ahmed bin Anu'man School of Basic Education, among whom 37 students were considered as an experimental group and 38 were considered as the control group.
Before starting the experiment, the researcher prepared a teacher guide that matches with the cooperative learning method of recitation lessons in the first preparatory, second semester course. These lessons are : dipthongization (Idghaam), utterance (Idh-har), transposition (Iglab) and concealment (Ikhfaa) (of the letters sounds). The researcher has also prepared an attainment test of 30 multiple choice items and an observation list that contains 30 principles of the consonantal (n) (Al noon Al sakna) and the nunnation (Tanween). The validity and reliability of both the test and the list have been confirmed.
The parity of both the experimental group and the control group has been measured with regard to the attainment of principles of recitation and the acquisition of its skills through the usage of test (T)The same test was used to identify the function of the differences between the two average marks of the control group and the experimental group in the achievement test and the observation list.
The researcher has reached to the following conclusions:
- there are differences that have no statistical function between the averages of marks of the control group and the experimental group in the achievement of principles of recitation. - there are differences that have no statistical indication between the averages of marks of the control group and the experimental group in acquisition of recitation skills.
The study ends up with several recommendations. The most important are:
assigning a bigger role for a teacher in doing lessons by using the cooperative learning method and lengthen the period time to be two periods instead of one.
- carrying out a study to identify the effect of cooperative learning on Basic Education students' attainment of principles of recitation (Al Tajweed) and their acquisition of its skills. - Carrying out another study or studies to identify the effect of cooperative learning on teaching other branches of Islamic Studies.
