The objective of this study was to determine psychological stress faced by parents of disabled students of special schools in Muscat Governorate and to measure the intensity of influence of different dimension and its relationship to some variables such us student gender and type of disability .The study sample consisted of (400) parents, (200 mother, 200 father) of students with different disabilities (Mental Retardation, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment), who are studying in special education schools in Muscat Governorate. For the purpose of the study, a scale for psychological stress experienced by parents was applied. Results demonstrated that the level of the psychological stress in both mothers and fathers is generally low. In terms of influence, stress related to child's characteristics recorded the highest effect and came before the stress related to parents' characteristics. The study showed that there was a positive relationship between psychological stress of both the mother and father of a disabled child. It also revealed that there is no obvious shift in psychological stress of disabled mothers and fathers regarding student's gender, while a clear difference was shown regarding the type of disability. Results of the study were discussed and recommendations have been reported.
