The study aimed to identify the training needs of the private schools principals in the governorates of Muscat and north Batinah. The researcher used in the study the descriptive approach. The study questionnaire was developed as a means of collecting the necessary data, which consisted of (42) paragraphs falling under (6) fields, and the study population consisted of (308) School principles (distributed in Muscat and north Batinah governorates, the sample consisted of (245) managers (school principals).
The statistical data has been processed using statistical packages (SPSS) arithmetic averages and standard deviation and (T-test), LSD, ANOVA, and Cronbach's alpha.
The study found the following results: The individuals in the sample are in a great need of training in the following fields: student affairs, professional development, ICT, crisis management, instrument evaluation, and strategic planning. The results of the study showed that there were no statistically significant differences at the level of (a<0.05) in the estimates of the study sample individuals among the average areas of the training programs for managers in relation to the gender variable (according to the variable of the governorate in all fields and the total sum in favour of Muscat Governorate.
There were no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (a<0.05) for the level of scientific qualification in all Fields of the study instrument except the field of strategic planning and evaluation instruments and the total sum in favour of high qualifications holders such as bachelor and master.
The study in conclusion came up with designing training programs for managers (school principals) in light of the training needs mentioned in the study. Also the study came up with the Ministry need to review the system related to the training of managers (school principals) and mechanisms of follow up, and their performance and criteria of choice, and the need to take the principle of continuous.
