الملخص الإنجليزي
The present study aimed to identify the effect of using caricatures on developing speaking skill for learners of Arabic Language who are non-speakers of Arabic. It also aimed to discover the differences between the average scores of the research sample in developing speaking skill according to the gender and specialization variables. The researcher adopted the experimental approach. To achieve the aims of the study, the researcher implemented three different tools including: designing an educational program based on using caricatures; observation checklist; and oral test for speaking skill. The study sample consisted of (15) male and female learners from intermediate -level from Noor Majan Training Institute in the Sultanate of Oman.
The results, which were revealed by the analysis of the hypotheses that are related to the differences between the sample of the study in the first and second implementation of the oral test. Also it is between the scores of the samples of the study in the first and second implementation of the observation checklist for speaking skills, confirmed the effect of using caricatures on developing speaking skill.
The results of the study also showed that there is no statistically significant difference between the averages of scores of learners in the post-oral test and the observation checklist due to the interaction between (males and females) and (experimental and control groups). This indicates that there is no impact of sex and groups and the interaction between them.
In light of the findings of the current study, the researcher recommends activating the role of caricatures in teaching Arabic language to non-speakers of Arabic. In addition, she recommends including caricatures in Arabic language curriculums of teaching Arabic to non-speakers of Arabic instead of using leaners' mother tongue in vocabulary lists or in teachers' talk.
