The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between metacognitive awareness, leaning strategies, and academic achievement among students of grade eleven in Sultanate of Oman. The sample of study consisted of (340) students from grade eleven in Batinah South region. Two measurements are used: Metacognitive.
Awareness Inventory(MAI) developed by Schraw and Dennison (1994) that translated by Banna (2007). Another measurement is The Revised Two Factor Study Process Questionnaire: R-SPQ-2F (Biggs, Kember, & Leung, 2001) and translated by Munshi, TIESUIT Al-Rukban and Al-Hoqail (2012). The results show a significant relationship between surface learning strategies and academic achievement, and a significant relationship between deep learning strategies and meta-awareness. Moreover, results demonstrated a significant relationship between meta-awareness, gender, and academic achievement. No relationship was found between surface learning strategy and meta awareness.
Moreover, the results of the current study showed that the surface learning strategy predicted students' performance in Arabic course.
