The study aimed at investigating the Omani social studies teachers' level of sustainable development awareness. The study sample consisted of (579) social studies teachers from four areas namely: Muscat, Al-Dakiliah, Al-Batanh South and Al-Batanh North. A measure of awareness was utilized for the purpose of the study, The measure consisted of (59) items distributed into three components: a knowledge component, an affective component, and behavior component. The measure was validated by submitting it to a group of jury members and reliability was established by administrating it to 30 social studies teachers who were not included in the sample using Alpha Cronbach whose value was(.807). (The level of sustainable development awareness of those teachers was found high. It also showed that they mainly depend on media to gain information about sustainable development. There were statistically significant differences in the level of economic awareness that could be attributed to gender, and teachers' major and no differences due to their experience. There were no differences in their source of information about sustainable development due to their gender, major and experience, The study recommended to develop social studies teachers' knowledge in topics related to sustainable development and its domains, world concern of sustainable development, sustainable development methods by workshops and providing them with related publications, and encourage teacher to read about sustainable development. It also recommended the need to develop the knowledge structure related to sustainable development in the content of social studies teacher preparing program.
