This study aimed to determine the availability of critical thinking skills in the teaching of Arabic language teachers of literary texts in the classroom at grade 11. To achieve this, the researcher prepared a list of (24) critical thinking skills that should be of interest to teachers of Arabic in the course of their teaching of literary texts for the students at grade 11. It's coming under main five skills which are: identification, inference, balancing, interpretation and evaluation.
The study had analyzed all classroom questions which posed by the Arabic language teachers in the course of their teaching literary texts at grade 11, which contained (1072) questions, and found that the number of questions which included the critical thinking skills are (919) represented by (85.7% of the total classroom questions raised. The interpretation skills comes at the first place and got (55.9%) from the availability of critical thinking skills, followed by inference skill of (26.6%), then the skill of identification by the availability of (10.6%), then skill of the balancing by the availability of ( 3.7%), and at ranked fifth and last evaluation skill by the availability of (3%).
At the level of sub-skills , the total number of skills which are addressed the critical thinking are (17) skills, represented (70.83%) of the total skills contained in the tool, and (7) of sub skills did not get any occurrences of the questions which are: the identification between facts and opinions in the text, and extract evidence and the evidence cited by the author, the balance between two similar picture of two literary writers, evaluate the views or thought dealt with by the writer, highlight the strengths and weakness in the text, identify errors in the text and evaluate the evidence adduced by the writer.
In the light of the results, the researcher provided a number of recommendations: recommended to colleges of education to give enough areas to teach materials that include a various types of critical thinking, training Arabic language teachers to build and develop an educational curriculum that include different forms of critical thinking skills.
