This study aims at investigating the requirements of developing school performance in the Sultanate of Oman in view of benchmarking method, and provide mechanisms and suggestions for apply benchmarking method in developing school performance, as it is perceived by managers and assistants in the government education schools, the study use the descriptive method. For achieving the above objectives, the researcher has designed a questionnaire consists of (54) items, which are divided in following domains: (school administration, education, learning and challenges). The study samples have included (520) managers and assistants working at the goverment education schools from four educational regions (Al Dhahira, Al Dakhilia, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah).
1. The estimates of the study members on the requirements of development, came at a high degree of approval at the level of the four regions, where the focus of school administration ranked first.
2. The study found that there were statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) in the sample of the study sample on the requirements of developing the school performance in the public education schools in the Sultanate of Oman using the benchmarking method. There is difference in the variable of gender in the school administration axis in favor of males and variance of the regions. There are also differences due to the variable managerial experience in the axis of education for the benefit of more than 10 years.
3. The students' estimates of the implementation challenges were varied
(high, medium and weak).
4. The study presented the requirements to apply the method of benchmarking in the development of school performance and also explained how to overcome the difficulties facing the implementation of the method.
