This study aims at identifying the Image of the public relations profession among its practitioners in public relations departments of the governmental units in the Sultanate of Oman by identifying the general characteristics of the profession image, identifying the characteristics of job satisfaction, in addition to identifying the image of public relations profession between the work colleagues in the ministries and governmental institutions that follow the Civil Service Law in the Sultanate of Oman.
The information was collected through the media survey method, relying distributed in July, August and September 2018 to 155 public relations practitioners in 31 government units, of whom 71 practitioner responded.
The study concludes a set of results including: 91.5% of the respondents were satisfied with their affiliation to the public relations profession, and 60.6% of the respondents were satisfied with the societal understanding of the public relations profession in the government units in the Sultanate, and that 45% of the respondents felt dissatisfied with the raises they receive compared to their efforts.
In addition, 42.3% of the sample confirmed that the administration requires them to do their work without adequate budget or human resources, and 80.2% preferred to work in a field of public relations that allows interaction with the public compared to any administrative field, and 93.6% of the sample of the study found that the profession of public relations is distinguished from other professions as a profession that encounters new challenges, and 43.7% of the sample felt that they have achieved their professional ambitions in the field of public relations.
