The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of organizational culture at Sultan Qaboos University from the point of view of the faculty members, to determine their degree of job satisfaction, and to investigate the relationship between organizational culture and job satisfaction. The descriptive method was used in order to achieve the objectives of the study. Data was mainly collected through questionnaires. The population of the study was (903) who constituted all faculty members from all colleges at SQU. The participants of the study consisted of (260) faculty members from all colleges at SQU who were selected using convenience sampling method. The main findings of the study are:
- The degree of organizational culture at SQU was high; with the organizational beliefs ranked first and the organizational expectation was ranked last.
- The degree of job satisfaction at Sultan Qaboos University was high with an average of (3.84) and a standard deviation of (0.51).
- There were no statistically significant differences in the organizational culture due to the variables of gender and academic rank.
- There were significant differences in the organizational culture due to the variable of nationality in the organizational values and organizational expectations domains favoring the Arab nationalities. There were also significant differences due to the college variable in the organizational values and organizational expectations domains favoring the College of Nursing. Moreover, there were significant differences due to experience in the organizational customs domain favoring those who had academic experience less than 5 years. In addition, there were significant differences due to the work experience at SQU favoring those who served at SQU less than 5 years.
- There were no statistically significant differences in job satisfaction due to gender, academic rank, college, and years of experience.
- There were significant differences in job satisfaction due to the variable of years of experience at Sultan Qaboos University in favor of those who worked at the university for less than 5 years. There were also significant differences in job satisfaction due to the variable of nationality favoring the Arab nationality.
- A significant and positive correlation was found between organizational culture and job satisfaction among faculty members at Sultan Qaboos University. The correlation coefficient between them was 0.852.
In the light of these research findings, some recommendations for further studies were outlined.
