The study aimed to identify the requirements of developing the educational supervision in the light of strategic planning in the Sultanate of Oman. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive approach was implemented. A questionnaire consisting of (36) items was prepared. They were classified into four areas: The educational supervisors' competences of strategic planning skills, the availability of organizational structure that supports the strategic educational planning, the facilities for educational supervision strategic planning, and the role of educational directorates in supporting the strategic planning of the educational supervision.
The sample of the study consisted of (353) senior supervisors, educational supervisors and senior teachers in Muscat, North Batinah, North Sharqia, Al Dakhilia and Dhofar Governerates.
The study revealed the following:
- The estimates of the sample of the study were very high for the importance of the requirements of developing the educational supervision in the light of the strategic planning in the Sultanate
of Oman.
- There were statistically significant differences at the level of (as 0.05) in the sample of the study which attributed to gender, the educational governorates, and the type of supervisors in favor of the senior supervisor and the senior teacher.
In light of the analysis of the relevant educational literature and the findings of the study, a set of recommendations were developed which contribute to the development of educational supervision in the Sultanate of Oman in light of the strategic planning. The most important of these are the following: A review of the guide to characterizing the tasks of the various categories of educational supervision to suit the requirements of strategic planning, holding training courses for the different supervisory levels on how to prepare strategic plans for educational supervision.
