The present study mainly aimed to investigate the career future anxiety and its
relationship to the features of optimism and pessimism among students in the Colleges of
Applied Sciences in the Sultanate of Oman. The study applied the relational descriptive
approach. The study sample consisted of 726 students, 125 males and 601 females. The present
study adopted the scale of career future anxiety developed by Al Sharifin, Bani Mustafa and
Tashtoosh (2014) which had been legalized according to Omani environment by Abu Shendi, Al
Sheikh Hammoud and Al Rejibi (2019), as well as the inventory of Arabic list for Optimism and
Pessimism prepared by AbdulKhaleq (1996). The results of the study indicated that the level of
career future anxiety was low among the sample members, and the feature of optimism appeared
at high level, while the feature of pessimism was at low level. The results also indicated that
there were no statistically significant differences in career future anxiety due to the variables of
gender and academic level, while the differences were found apparent and statistically significant
in the college variable in favor of Ibri College. It was concluded that there were no statistically
significant differences in the features of optimism and pessimism due to the variables of gender
and college, while the differences were apparent statistically significant in the feature of
pessimism according to the variable of the academic level in favor of the first and second levels.
In addition, the results of the current study also indicated the possibility of predicting the career
future anxiety through the features of optimism and pessimism. The study came out with a set of
recommendations and suggestions based on the results
