This corner stone of this dissertation is the legal technique offered by
Omani law to protect the rights of the minority of shareholders in joint stock companies. The thesis explaining the role of shareholders in
managing joint stock companies and declare the real effect of such a role.
The responsibility of the majority shareholders in joint-stock companies
towards the minority shareholders has been declared. Moreover, the
thesis inspects the role of courts and other supervisory authorities
guaranteeing the balance between the shareholders in joint-stock
companies.
Lack of legal studies exploring protection of rights of the minority of
shareholders in Omani law, and vague of Omani legal rules providing such
protection, comparing other comparative laws, allow the researcher to
discuss the most important means of protection of rights of minority
shareholders, and the efficiency of such means. The researcher applying
the analytical and comparative research methods to analyses the Omani
law of commercial companies comparing other Arab legislations in the
field of protection of minority of shareholders
