Social media networks emerged in 2011 in the Arab Spring uprisings as an actor and catalyst for
political change. It also accompanied the various other protest movements in the world.
However, 2011 remains the distinction of the Arab Spring, which bloomed with social media. It
played a vital role in protests from Tunisia to Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain and Syria and then
in social protests from Spain to the United States through Tel Aviv. This research aims to
identify and discuss the expected outcomes and results of the influence of social media means
(Facebook) on changing the outcome of the uprisings during 2011 Arab Spring uprising in
Egypt, make recommendations for greater understanding of this subject in light of the current
instability in regional security and to put forward visions and proposals to address them. The
research included articles and studies in various areas of the influence of social media during
Arab Spring protests in Egypt, in addition to meaningful discussions and interviews on the
influence of social media on the national security and the introduction of future visions to
maintain this security in one of the most politically unstable regions in the world. It appears that
social constructivism worldview or theory would suit this assumption by applying mixed method
because social constructivism theory focuses on the creation of reality, and how individuals view
the world. The research is also expected to provide different point of views based on reliable
literatures and data analysis. The analysis is also expected to cast light on the expected influence
of the social media during the Arab Spring in Egypt through the discussion of the analyzed
gathered data. It will allow for more consideration of research that focuses on this topic. Finally,
the practical implications and themes of this study will be useful for the students of the
international relations, as it will provide a deeper understanding and detailed information on how
social media means are considered a significant challenge to the leaders working in the field of
politics and security.
