This study aims to examine the structure of antagonism in Al-Jawahri's poetry
through tracing its various forms of manifestations in his collection of poems,
whether it was partial or holistic. That was by applying the stylistic methods that
deals with stylistic features according to its suitability at the context The study has two parts; theoretical and practical. The theoretical part analyzes important junctures in Al Al-Jawahiri's life considering areas of struggle because the poet's personal and public life was filled with examples of antagonism. This impacted, one way or the other, on the noticeable proliferation of antagonism in his poetry. This part also included a discussion of antagonism as a literary term and its different historical perspectives. Most of these perspectives tended to reduce it to the structural side; a mere stylistics device, not taking into consideration its importance in the creation of meaning. In this part, there is also a discussion of the event that revolutionized the term and expanded its significance both in the structure and the meaning; making it the focus and in the center of meaning.
Furthermore, the theoretical section discussed the importance of antagonism by tracing it in several texts. This importance is manifested in the fact that antagonism infuses wonder and tension that resurrects the meaning of the text.
The practical section, on the other hand, deals with Jawahiri's poetic texts to clarify the patterns of antagonism and its relation with the common stylistic structures which are intertwine and interact together to revolutionized the meaning. That's because in Al-Jawahiri's poetry, not all antagonism was a mere surface, stylistic structure. Instead it was related to his thinking, self and view of life as if it was a language rule that was not to be ignored and or a miniature of the grand existence that he lives in. This existence is not complete without the convergence of these two parts, which are opposites on the surface but which add depth to the meeting. In addition, these structures overcame the partial existence and expanded to include sections fused together by antagonism to create an absolute whole that spreads across the entire literary text.
This study has been divided into three chapters preceded by a preview and
introduction then it was followed by a conclusion and results.
The first chapter is entitled with (Syllabic Contrast in Al Gwaheri's poetry) it was divided into two
topics- The first one is feelings which appear clearly within the situations of love,
Lamenting and Meditation in nature and personality. And the second topic is about policy and the society where personality deals with real political and social issues.
Chapter2: Syllabic contrast in Al Gwaheri's poetry. Here, we will follow contrast
revelation through a group of structures that spread in his poetry such as:
Admission, love, Uniqueness, Meditation, Alienation, Rebellion and challenge - All
these contain contrast
Chapter3: Total contrast in Al Gwaheri's poetry. Here, we can find the total
contrast in many different dualities that spread in his texts such as (Present and Past), (Realism and Idealism), (Freedom and Restriction), (The poet and People), (Mistry and Comfort), and (Belief and Unbelief).
