The research aims to discover the relation between speech anxiety and
the academic performance among Omani university students depending on the
gender (male, female), Year of study (First, second, third, other), The college
(Scientific, humanist). This study is applied to 400 male and female students
in Sultan Qaboos university, Muscat and Nizwa university, Aldakhilia. The
researcher uses the descriptive approach in forming this research and the
a scale of speech anxiety is also used to find results.
The results of this research are summarized as the speech anxiety is
not widely spread among Omani university students and there is no relation
between speech anxiety and the academic performance among Omani
university students. In addition, according to the scale of speech anxiety
which is used in the research the speech anxiety is affected by gender (there is
deference between male and female students which is males have speech
anxiety more than females) and year of study, but colleges and GPA do not
affect the speech anxiety.
