The study follows a descriptive analytical statistical approach in the field of compiling this art by searching for it in the Arabic literature, keeping track of its history, gathering its poems, and highlighting its figures, rhythms, purposes, methods, ways and analyzing and commenting on them.
This study is divided into a theoretical frame and three chapters preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion.
The theoretical frame defines the term "Quintupling" linguistically and idiomatically. It also presents the opinion of literature and criticism scholars in this art, past and present, It states their opinions on the art of quintupling in the modern Omani poetry separately. It presents the relation between quintupling and similar terms, as well as, the history of this art and most important forms and uses.
The first chapter titled: "Quintupling Rhythms" comes in two sections. The first is titled: "The characteristics of Quintupling Rhythms." This section addresses long and short poetic rhythms with examples of quintupling and analysis in terms of rhythm, and the changes and additions on them as well as exploring differences and similarities between them and the original ones. This section also analyze these examples in terms of significance and voice quality (whisper or overtness). The second section comes under the title: "Properties of Quintupling Rhymes" and addresses rhymes in terms of its definition, types, letters and most important defects, alongside with illustrative examples. The second section is then followed with the chapter's conclusion.
The second chapter entitled: "Poetic Purposes in Quintupling" discusses the definition of poetic purpose and types. The chapter is divided into two sections, the first of which titled: "Traditional Poetic Purposes" addresses the following purposes: (praise, flirtation, admonition, Lamentations, satire, pride, wisdom, as cetirizine, description). The second section titled: Modern Poetic Purposes" addresses the following purposes (induction on learning, social issues, awakening, behavior). Examples are given to each of the purposes with analysis of significance and additions to the original. Then the Chapter ends with a conclusion.
The third chapter comes under the title: "Methods and Ways of Quintupling" and is divided into two sections as well. The first section titled: "Methods of Quintupling in Modem Omani Poetry" displays two poets' style: Ibn Sheikhan Al-Salmi and Abu Muslim Al-Rawahi, It presents their styles through text display for each poet and analyze each one in terms of text structure, linguistic built, metaphorical built, musical built, and idiomatical significant. The second section titled: "Ways of Quintupling in the Modern Omani Poetry" addresses most famous ways of quintupling as follows: (The familiar way of quintupling The refrain way of repeated pray in the text The way of opening with the original verses in quintupling) with highlighting the new in each of these ways and documenting it with examples. The chapter ends with a conclusion.
