الملخص الإنجليزي
It is known that Iran and the Gulf countries have had a conflicted history right from the 1970s
up till now. The history of Iran goes back to the famous Iranian revolution, which will be
discussed more elaborately in the coming chapters and more deeply in the literature review.
The GCC formation was a result of the Iranian revolution because the countries of the GCC
had to get united to be able to deal with the security and the political issues that had risen from
Iran. Within the GCC, it was found that Saudi Arabia had the key role or the main leadership
role, as they were quite powerful among all the other GCC countries and the other GCC
countries were still considered to be small states. The main identity which we will be discussing
in the research is Khomeini, who had overthrown the Shah regime, which was controlling Iran,
prior to the Iranian revolution in the 1970s and had exceptionally good control on Iran and the
entire region at that time. The Khomeini rule was also being supported by the other local secular
leaders who were opposing the Shah regime, and it was believed that Khomeini had gained the
belief and the confidence of his supporters and then ruled Iran after the regime of Shah.
Furthermore, in this research, it will be learned how the relationships were in 1979- 2021, as it
can be seen, Iran had made normal ties with the various GCC countries, but with Saudi Arabia
and Bahrain, there were still some differences which will be elaborated on in the literature
review. Furthermore, Iran's foreign policy ideology is also a Shia ideology, which will be
discussed with regard to how the foreign policies of Iran were affected by this and with respect
to the other countries and the way Iran was being perceived by the neighbouring Arab countries.
Moreover, brief information is also provided about the Iran and Iraq war which took place, and
it is explained why the GCC countries supported Iraq over Iran. Finally, it can be learned that
this entire research will revolve around Iran ideology, structure of power in Iran, Iranian
constitution, and Multilateral relations with GCC as institution and with individuals from the
1970s up to 2021. According to the study, the Iranian current regime will continue to be
ideological with an extreme desire to export the revolution to GCC countries.
