The study aims to identify the level of awareness on knowledge
economy among social studies teachers in the Sultanate of Oman based on
two variables, which are gender, and years of teaching .
In order to achieve the aims of the study, the researcher used the
descriptive approach through which he prepared a scale consisting of (44)
items divided into three main factors: cognitive, emotional and behavioral.
After ensuring the validity and reliability of the scale, data collection was
applied and a total of 351 respondents were employed from different
governorates of the Sultanate .
The analysis revealed of that the degree of awareness about knowledge
economy among social studies teachers in the Sultanate of Oman was
generally moderate with (69.9%) on average. The participants demonstrated
the lowest degree of awareness about knowledge economy in the cognitive
domain with (57.9%) while they demonstrated the highest awareness in the
affective domain with (81.7%). The behavioral domain was high with
(70.2%) of degree of awareness about knowledge economy.
The result shows that the average level of awareness among social
studies teachers is (69.9 %). The level of awareness on cognitive component
is the lowest (57.9%) while the affective component got the highest
percentage (81.7%). The behavioral component is high as well with (70.2%) .
The study recommends to enhance the knowledge of social studies
teachers on knowledge-based economy through training courses and
workshops. In addition, the need to focus on developing the most specialized
knowledge economy skills such as innovation skills, digital skills and
procedural research skills.
