This study is targeted to investigate the relationship between vocational inclination and attitude towards optional instructional subject matters upon tenth grade female students in the Sultanate of Oman, and also to investigate the relationship of parents' instructional standard with daughters' inclination towards optional instructional subject matters.
To achieve the goals, the researcher conducted the study using a simple random sample composed of 420 students (girls) of the tenth grade in North Batinah region in the Sultanate of Oman. The sample represents 8 % of the study community in North Batinah region.
For the purpose of the study, the researcher applied Holland's SDS Standard Scale and designed the inclination questionnaire with acceptable validity and reliability indicators. To answer the research questions of the study, data had been statistically analyzed through frequencies, percentages, arithmetic means, standard deviations and
skewness coefficients to understand how students were distributed over Holland's six vocational dispose environments and also to calculate the average inclination of the students towards optional instructional subjects matters. Also T-tests and a One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was applied to compare the two means and examine the statistical significance between them. Spearman & Pearson correlation coefficients were also used to study the relationship between the study variables.
STUDY RESULTS:
1. Girls were distributed over the six vocational environments by different
percentages wherein the Social Environment reached the highest percentage (49.52 %). The Art Environment (21.43 %), th Explorer Environment (17.14%), the Traditional Environment (5.71 %), the Adventurous Environment (4.52%) and the Realistic Environment (1.66 %).
2. Female students" inclinations were positive towards optional educational subjects and the average performance of all subjects of the study sample was obtained by attitude scale (84.41) with a standard deviation of (10, 58).This average was higher than hypothetical average (68). All the results for mean comparisons were found significant at the level (a ≤0.01).
3. The finding of positive correlations between vocational variables and inclination towards optional educational subjects were confirmed at the level of significance (a ≤0.01).
4. The finding of positive correlations between vocational variables and inclination towards optional educational subjects were confirmed at the level of significance (a ≤0.05) instructional levels of fathers.
5. The finding of positive correlations between vocational variables and inclination towards optional educational subjects were confirmed at the level of significance (a ≤0.01) instructional levels of mothers.
On the light of interpretation and discussion of the study results, the researcher proposes a number of recommendations. The following are some of them:
1. Endeavor to speed up the development of vocational inclination upon students through practicing different practical experiences, by practicing different hobbies and activities, carrying out field tours and visits to work and training. sites with endeavor to crystallize vocational inclination rapidly.
2. Application of profession in favor tests upon female students, in addition to personality abilities and other factors, provided that it will help to achieve the correct vocational guidance which should not be limited to giving only information and knowledge.
