The study aimed to identify the role of the Omani family in raising children on the
values of citizenship by identifying its concept, values, and indicators.
In addition to constructing a contemporary picture on the Omani
family role in raising their children on citizenship values, and
recognising the difficulties faced by the families in performing their
role in raising children on these values.
The study depended on four dimensions of the citizenship's values on
which family raises their children: (the value of national loyalty - the
value of tolerance and acceptance of the other (tribal and doctrinally
different) - the value of adherence to national law - the value of
cooperation and community participation).
The researcher relied on the pattern of descriptive studies by using
the social survey method through an electronic questionnaire tool for
a sample of 408 parents of families in Bosher. The study has reached many results the most important of which are:
- The family has a solid role in raising children on the value of national
loyalty.- The family has a solid role in raising children on the value of tolerance and acceptance of others.
- The family has a solid role in raising children on the value of adhering to national laws.
- The family has a solid role in raising children on the value of
cooperation and community responsibility.
- The family has a solid role in the overall measure of the citizenship
values. The study concluded with establishing a set of proposals that could
benefit the family and society in raising citizenship.
