الملخص الإنجليزي
The current study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of a
counseling program based on Logo therapy in enhancing the quality of life
in a sample of retired women in the Sultanate of Oman. The study sample
consisted of 16 retired women whose ages ranged from 40-55 years old
(M=45.8 years, SD=4.6). The sample was selected by announcing the
counseling program on social media applications such as Facebook and
WhatsApp. The sample was randomly distributed to the control group and
experiment group using random numbers. The researcher used the short
version of the Quality-of-Life Questionnaire (QoLQ) developed by the
World Health Organization which consists of four sub-scores (physical,
psychological, social, and environmental) and was translated into the
Arabic language by Abd Alkhalik (2008). The researcher developed the
counseling program, which was designed based on Logo Therapy
applications and was validated by experts. The program lasted for 8
sessions with two sessions each week, each session took 90 minutes except
for the last session took 120 minutes. The results indicated that the program
was effective in enhancing the quality of life in the experimental group
members compared with control group members as it was clear in the
QoLQ total score and the psychological dimension only. In addition, no
statistically significant differences were found in both the pre and post tests in the experimental group in the QoLQ total score, the physical, environmental, and social dimensions but there were statistical differences
found in the psychological dimension only.
