The study aimed to investigate The effectiveness of FX DRAW7 program in acquiring
eighth-grade students the concepts of polygons and angles and their attitudes towards
geometry. To verify this, a teacher's guide was prepared for teaching Polygons and Angles unit
using the program. A test was prepared to measure students' acquisition of the concepts of
polygons and angles, and a scale of attitudes towards geometry was prepared and applied.
The sample of study consisted of (62) eighth-grade students from a basic education
school in the Governorate of South Al Batinah. They were divided into two groups: an
experimental group that studied the polygons and angles unit using FX DRAW7 program and
a control group that studied the same unit in the usual way.
The study found that there is a statistically significant difference at the level of
significance less than (0.05) between the mean score of the experimental group and the mean
score of the control group in acquiring the concepts of polygons and angles, in favor of the
experimental group. Also, the study found that there is a statistically significant difference at
the level of significance less than (0.01) between the mean score of the experimental group and
the mean score of the control group in the measure of attitude towards geometry in
mathematics, and in favor of the experimental group.
In Based on the positive effects the study had shown in gaining the concepts of polygons
and angles with students, the researcher recommended the necessity of applying and using FX
DRAW7 program in teaching geometry and other mathematical topics.
