The study aimed to identify the reality of private lessons
and the extent of their spread among school students in the
Sultanate of Oman. The study used the descriptive approach. The
study sample included (4546) male and female students, and
(2633) parents. The questionnaire was used as a tool for
collecting data, and the results showed that (24.3%) Of the
students receive private lessons, and (31.2%) of parents provide
them for their children, and they receive progressive grants as
the grade increases, and mathematics and then the English
language come at the forefront of the academic subjects in which
students request private lessons, and that private lessons are
spread in all governorates of the Sultanate. The majority of
students prefer to attend these lessons in the form of small
groups and individually, and a large percentage of them attend
them at the teacher's home, and (87.3%) of the parents do not
spend their monthly spending on private lessons more than (150)
riyals. The study came out with a set of recommendations and
proposals, the most important of which is : The importance of
formulating a national strategy to reduce the phenomenon of
private lessons. The importance of the Ministry of Education
organizing and framing strengthening lessons. Conducting a
study to examine the risks resulting from students receiving
private lessons in teachers' homes and individually.
