In the first aspect, this study aims to understand the nature of poverty through the use of both the empirical approach and the theoretical approach. Achieving this in-depth understanding of poverty will not be accomplished except by studying the limited-income groups themselves in a way that helps to understand their lifestyles, their social and economic characteristics, and the various patterns of deprivation and the causes of this deprivation. And since poverty is a multidimensional phenomenon that is not only due to lack of income, but also to many social and economic factors (Nassar & Laithy 2001), it is important to make a comparison between the poor and the non-poor in Omani society, because poverty is not necessarily confined to the poor from the economic point of view, but Townsend 49: 1979 says that some individuals may feel even when they cannot be confirmed that they are poor or that they are not recognized by society as poor. Principle of the meaning of deprivation and its manifestations in this society.In order to achieve this, it is important to reach the concept of deprivation through the viewpoint of people with limited income, and also from the perspective of non-poor individuals, which will help facilitate understanding of the meaning of deprivation and its dimensions through various points of view.
