The study aimed to identify the extent to which personality disorders contribute to social media and personality disorders among A’Sharqiyah University students. According to the demographic (age, sex, and the academic level). The author used the descriptive method to randomly select a population of 845 students from A’Sharqiyah University during the academic year 2022/2023. The parameters used in this study were, Personality Disorders Scale by Ghanem and others (2007) and Social Media Addiction Scale by Al Barashdiya and Al Dhafri (2019).
The results of the study as follows: The most common personality disorders among A’Sharqiyah University students were Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder and Paranoid personality disorder. The level of addiction to social media came as moderate. In addition to that, the study showed statically significant difference between the level of addiction to social media and sex, There was a relationship between addiction to social media and Schizoid and Narcissistic personalities. The predication of social media addiction was possible based on three personality disorders (Schizoid personality, Narcissistic personality, and Avoidant personality)
