This study aimed to investigate the relationship between psychological needs and quality of life among young people in the Sultanate of Oman. The study used the descriptive analytical method and was conducted on a sample of 500 young men and women. The researcher used a psychological needs scale specially designed for the study, and the World Health Organization's quality of life scale. The study found the following:
- There is a positive relationship between psychological needs and quality of life among young people in the Sultanate of Oman, where the level of psychological needs satisfaction is high. The study also found that
the level of quality of life is high. There is a statistically significant negative relationship between psychological needs and quality of life among young people in the Sultanate of Oman at the (α=0.01) level, indicating that as psychological needs satisfaction increases, quality of life also increases.
- There are statistically significant differences at the (α ≤ 0.05) level in psychological needs and quality of life according to gender, with the t probability value being less than the significance level (α≤0.05). Returning to the means shows that these differences are in favor of males.
- There are statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level in psychological needs and quality of life according to marital status, with the t probability value being less than the significance level (α≤ 0.05). Returning to the means shows that these differences are in favor of the married individuals in the sample. The study also found that there are statistically significant differences in psychological needs between those with bachelor's degrees and those with postgraduate degrees, and these differences are in favor of those with higher degrees.
- There are statistically significant differences in psychological needs and quality of life among the sample individuals who are aged 25-35 years, 36-45 years, and 46-65 years old. These differences are in favor of the
last two age groups.
