الملخص الإنجليزي
The current study aimed to identify the reality of social services in the governmental health
sector in the Sultanate of Oman and the satisfaction of receivers of health social services,
to recognize the obstacles facing the development of social services in the health sector
and to propose developments that align with Oman Vision 2040.
The current study is a descriptive study as it relied on the analytical descriptive approach
by applying the comprehensive social survey approach to social workers, working in the
governmental health sector, in the Sultanate of Oman and who are affiliated to the Ministry
of Health and Sultan Qaboos University Hospital. There was a total number of 92 social
workers, and two different studying tools were used to conduct the study. The first tool
was an electronic questionnaire which was applied on the health social workers and the
second tool was conducting interviews, which was used for a random sample of patients
who had previously benefitted from the services of health social workers.
The study concluded that the health social services are effective according to the
specialists’ perspective, but not to the standard as per the patients view due to some
obstacles that hinder its development, of which the most significant are the institutions’
related obstacles.
The study also presented a proposal to develop the health social service and implement
mechanisms to align with Oman Vision 2040.
