الملخص الإنجليزي
The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Mathigon
software in acquiring Geometrical concepts and the attitude towards
Geometry among ninth-grade female students. The study used a quasiexperimental approach and had 59 participants from the Governorate of
Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman. They were divided into two groups: an
experimental group consisting of 30 female students who studied using
the Mathigon software, and a control group consisting of 29 female
students who studied in the usual teaching method. To achieve the
objectives of the study, the researcher prepared a guide for the teacher and
student in teaching the unit “Circles, Straight Lines, Angles, and
Geometric Shapes” using the Mathigon software and used two reliable
tools to gather data: a test for acquiring geometry concepts consisting of
18 items, and a measure of attitude towards geometry, consisting of 26
items. The results of study show that there is a statically significant
difference at the level of (α = 0.05) between the mean scores of the ninth
graders of the experimental group who studied using Mathigon software
and the mean scores of the control group students who studied in the
normal way in the test of acquiring the geometry concepts and in the
measure of attitude towards geometry in favor of the experimental group.
In light of the results, as the study showed a positive impact on the
acquisition of geometry concepts in the “Circles, Straight Lines, Angles,
and Geometric Shapes” unit for female students, the study recommended
the necessity of employing and using Mathigon software in teaching
various topics in mathematics in general, and geometry in particular.
