During Covid-19 pandemic, Ministry of Education in Oman has prioritized electronic
supervision (E-supervision) to effectively monitor and support teachers. E-supervision was
chosen to address challenges in communication and supervision efficiency during a time when
physical interactions were limited. This approach leverages web and computer technologies to
facilitate remote communication, real-time feedback, and virtual classroom observations. Key
benefits include improved communication between English teachers and supervisors, enhanced
control over the supervision process, and the ability to overcome time and place constraints.
However, challenges remain, such as the need for adequate training and resources for supervisors
and ongoing professional development for teachers. In conclusion, E-supervision has become a
valuable tool in Oman's education system, enhancing communication, efficiency, and flexibility
in monitoring and support processes. Its implementation aims to improve the quality of education
in Omani schools.
The descriptive study aimed at exploring in depth English teachers’ perceptions and
supervisors’ readiness in implementing electronic supervision (E-supervision) in public schools
in Al Dakhiliya Governorate. To answer the study questions, a questionnaire was developed to
explore English teachers’ perceptions towards the implementation of E-supervision. The
questionnaire sample included 119 English teachers from Al Hamra and Bahla public schools. In
addition, a semi-structured interviews were conducted with 2 English supervisors and 2 English
teachers. It aimed to investigate their readiness towards the implementation of E-supervision and
the challenges faced by them during using E-supervision. Based on the findings, the study
recommended Ministry of Education (MOE) has to develop Internet network services and
improve technical support services in schools. Also, it is recommended to provide continuous
and updated training programs for supervisors and teachers.
