The thesis aims to study the writings of Omani women that overlap
with the autobiographical genre and attempt to research and delve
into them. To reveal the specificity that characterizes Omani
women’s autobiographical writings.
The thesis consisted of an introduction, three chapters, and a
conclusion. The introduction explained the theory of literary genres
that I took as a study approach. The first chapter included a
theoretical definition of the autobiographical genre, an explanation
of the genres intertwined with the autobiographical genre, and finally
the beginnings of the Arab and Omani autobiography.
The second chapter explained the motivations for writing an Omani
woman’s autobiography, presented the obstacles to writing an
Omani woman’s autobiography, and also included a naturalization
of the autobiographies written by Omani women.
As for the third chapter, it was an applied chapter in which the
autobiography of an Omani writer was analyzed, and its events,
characters, time and place were clarified. The research concluded
with a set of results reached from the study of “Omani women’s
autobiography in light of the theory of literary genres”.
