Surveillance using electronic bracelet technology is considered one of the most important applications of scientific technological development that supports the criminal justice facility in the field of applying penalties adopted by contemporary penal policies, as it is a technique for people to avoid the disadvantages of the penal environment. On the one hand, it is an alternative to the procedure of placement in temporary detention, as it helps to Monitoring the extent of the defendants’ respect for the obligations of judicial oversight during the course of the public case, and on the other hand, it is considered an alternative to the application of custodial penalties within penal institutions, especially short-term ones, as a procedural mechanism that guarantees the rehabilitation and integration of convicts into society, and many legislations have approved this technique. Among them is the Emirati legislator In this study, we will discuss the importance of applying the electronic bracelet system as an alternative to the penalty of deprivation of liberty and present the UAE’s experience in this regard. The Omani legislator recommends adopting this modern technology by reviewing its working mechanism and the most important effects of its application from a practical perspective.
