Social security issues and their associated developmental matters are among the most important concerns for governments and communities due to their direct impact on achieving national stability and enhancing the well-being of individuals, thereby ensuring social stability and allowing them to enjoy advanced levels of justice and social care. Moreover, efforts to provide social security are directly linked to enhancing levels of trust between the state and its various institutions and the members of society, resulting in the construction of a cohesive and advanced society in the global hierarchy of safe living standards. Generally, issues like social security hold a pivotal position in planning and constructing public policies aimed at ensuring the protection of human rights, achieving comprehensive and sustainable development for the nation.
The social security system is an integral part of this framework and is heavily relied upon to provide stable environments that ensure decent living standards for community members, enhancing their social, health, and economic stability, among other aspects of life. This integrated system encompasses a set of policies, plans, and measures aimed at achieving human welfare, eliminating obstacles to their development, and developing their communities, whether from internal or external risks. In addition, efforts are made to ensure access to basic services for citizens everywhere and to develop these services qualitatively to be more capable of keeping pace with global changes. In a rapidly changing world, characterized by the emergence of risk societies, certain segments of society such as children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and economically vulnerable groups appear to be in dire need of plans and policies to protect them and promote social cohesion, solidarity, and social justice.
In turn, Omani society is undergoing a series of social and economic transformations, which necessitates, with a high level of importance, the examination and analysis of the policies pursued in achieving social security through research. In this context, this research aims to analyze and interpret social security policies in the Sultanate of Oman through a field study applied to a sample of students and employees at Sultan Qaboos University. This research belongs to the mixed-method studies pattern, combining both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The researcher utilized both questionnaire tools and content analysis of speeches by His Majesty's to explore their contents relevant to social security. The study sample, which the questionnaire was applied to, consisted of 374 individuals distributed among students, employees, and academic staff who are Omani nationals only at Sultan Qaboos University. The study concluded with several findings, including the intertwining of social security with all aspects of human daily life, and its direct correlation with achieving stability. Moreover, it highlighted the significant reliance of Omani citizens on the success of the Vision Oman 2040 project in achieving better social and economic levels.
