The current study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a counseling program based on play therapy in improving the emotional adjustment of a sample of expatriate children in Muscat Governorate. To achieve the aim of the study, the semi-experimental study design was adopted. A measure of children's emotional adjustment was used from the point of view of their parents (CEAS), and a counseling program based on Play therapy, which consisted of 12 sessions with an average of three sessions per week. The sample was selected using purposive sampling method, where the scale was applied to 130 male and female students. Lowest 30 points on (CEAS) were Extracted. The sample was distributed into two equal groups: a control group with 15 male and female students, and an experimental group with 15 male and female students that underwent the play therapy counseling program. Results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences on the emotional adjustment scale as a whole between the averages of the pre- and post- test, specifically for the experimental group in favor of the post-test, except for the temper control axis, which should not have noticeable difference. On the emotional adjustment there were statistically significant ز variations in the means of the post-tests for the experimental and control groups. The experimental group performed better overall on the scale, with the exception of the temper control axis, where there were no differences. The results also showed continuity in the effectiveness of the play therapy counseling program in improving emotional adjustment among expatriate children in the one-month follow up assessment.
