The role of school headmaster in developing human relations in the schools beyond the primary level of education in the Sultanate of Oman.
The objective of the present study was to find out the role of headmaster in developing human relations with administrators and teachers in the post basic schools and know the impact of gender (male and female), qualification (diploma, bachelor, post graduate degree), period of experience (less than 5, 6-10 and more than 10 years) and school districts (Muscat governorate, Interior region, North Batinah, South Batinah, North Sharqiya and South Sharqiya) in development of human relationship. The researcher applied descriptive method using questionnaires for the sample consisting of 780 administrators and teachers from six districts. The questionnaire consisted of 60 items/ points classified in five areas. The authenticity of information gathered was confirmed by the concerned specialists and the consistency in alpha-Cronbach which was closer to p=0.98.
The main findings of the investigation were:
1. The degree of assessment of administrators and teachers for the role of school headmaster in the development of human relationship was found to be medium to the extent of 2.52.
2. There was no significant difference between the genders (males and
females) in respect of mean performance of headmasters (a>0.05).
3. There were significant differences between the mean performance of headmaster in the study sample for gender, qualification, experience and school districts in favor of administrators.
4. There were significant differences between the mean performances of headmaster in the study sample in respect of administrators and teachers having experience more than ten years.
5. There were significant differences between the mean performances of headmaster in the study sample in respect of administrators and teachers of Interior region and Muscat district.
Recommendations:
Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that there was a need to strengthen and promote skill development of the headmasters for human relationship with school administrators through the following -
Training of school administrators and teachers regularly on the modern methods of communication.
Emphasize the importance of practicing professional development and disseminating the importance of self development among the headmasters and all members of school community.
