The study is about the compensation known as "mut'ah" for divorced women. This
compensation is a legal right for the divorced woman and is a legal effect of the
divorce. It has been legislated to protect her from harm, boost her morale after the
separation from her husband, and dispel any suspicions about her. It is a legal and
jurisprudential way to compensate the woman and lessen the material and emotional
damages caused by the divorce. Despite its importance, many women and men are
unaware of mut'ah and its regulations. Therefore, this study aims to clarify the
jurisprudential rulings for compensating divorced women, evaluating it compared to
the Omani Personal Status Law. It also aims to explain how this compensation is
estimated and compares it with the practices in Omani Sharia courts to familiarize
the reader with the jurisprudential rulings and the legal and judicial reality.
