The current study aims to identify the risks of social media to raising children. This study
adopts the quantitative descriptive approach using survey by a sample based on Steven
Thompson equation (Steven Thompson,2012). It is applied on a sample of (148) social workers. The results indicated that all children use social media, and the most commonly used
children in the 10-15 age group. The rates of use of social media sites are high among children versus their awareness of these means is low. Two strong reasons for using social media sites is to play and entertainment, parental
preoccupation, and the weakest reason is for knowledge and science. The biggest danger of
social media is that it isolates children from their real society. The study recommends that
efforts should be joined in the work of an electronic program in the safe use of technology
and social media.
