The importance of this study lays on its care about the Omani oral narrative especially the marvelous tale. It focuses on actantial analysis of four Omani marvelous tales then identifies the similarities and differences between them through the narrative schema.
The study aims to describe the actantial structure behind each tale through identifying the narrative programs made by the subjects, actantial roles that control the narrative path of the subjects, the desired objects, the sealed contracts, the encountered confluxes, the competence they have, achieved performances and the sanction received at the end.
The study consists of: Introduction explains the motives behind selecting this topic. In addition, it clarifies the importance, method, questions of study and scientific problems that tackled it and its structure. Theoretical entry enlightens the importance of oral narrative, the distinctionof marvelous tale, the obstacles of study's literature and the analysis approach. Chapter I consists of four articles each one of them studies the actantial model in each tale. Chapter II compares between the narrative schemas in each tale. It is composed of four articles: Manipulation, Competence, Performance and Sanction. Conclusion that views the results of the study and other ideas for further studies.
