Abstract
In this thesis, the basic iterative Fresnel integral method and the corresponding algorithm are used for performing simulation of the Fresnel diffraction from amplitude diffraction grating. Details of the methodology and computation methods are discussed in detail. Various examples of simulated images for a variety of different experimental situation such as changing the wavelength, changing the aperture-screen distance, changing the slit width and separation have been simulated and the corresponding images have been generated. The simulation of the missing order has been accomplished. Then simulation of the interesting phenomena of Talbot effect has been performed by using the same algorithm. Specifically, simulation of the Talbot carpet has been achieved at an acceptable resolution. More refined simulation of the Talbot carpet can also be performed using this method, but with more computational efforts
