This study aimed at investigating the degree of acquiring supervisory competences after studying in the Supervision and Educational Guidance Diploma program as perceived by educational supervisors.
It also aimed at identify the degree of practices of competences witch were acquired by the graduates of the program as (SEGD) perceived by a sample of master teacher. To explore the impact of gender, experience and specialization ( major) as variables on the acquiring competences more over this study Proposes some Presides in order to develop the Program provided by the SQU, College Education.
The sample of the study consisted of(72) male and female supervisors who graduated from the program at the academics years(2005-2006) and (216) male and female teachers from the Sultanate schools teachers who had been supervised by these graduate.
In order to achieve the above objectives, the researcher prepared two questionnaires. Each questionnaire consisted of (64) items witch repented eight dimensions, planning, curriculum development, communication and human relation, knowledge and information technology, guidance and counseling, professional development, values and moral behavior and follow up and evaluation. Descriptive statistics has been used in analyzes the research data (averages and stnderdiviation) and inferential statistics ( T- test, ONE WAY ANOVA CHAVIE test ) to identify the direction of the deferens between the research group.
The results of the study can be summarized as follows: - The levels of supervisory competencies practices, among the graduates according to the sample of the study were high to medium (moderate ). - There were a statistical significant differences between the male and female supervisor in evaluation and follow up in favor of females. There were no statistical significant differences of eight areas of competencies due the teaching experience period while there were statistical significant differences in there competencies due to supervisory period of experience ( less than seven years ). The level of educational competencies supervisor practices for graduate supervisors ranged between high and medium. There were statistical significant differences in sex areas of competencies , planning , guidance and counseling, knowledge and information technology professional development and evaluation- follow up due to gender in favor of female teachers, while there were no statistical significant differences between practicing of supervisors in values of moral behavior and communication and human behavior. There were no significant differences in the practice of competences due to the period of experience and qualification Suggested procedures as follows:
- Students needs should be taken in consideration for development
of the supervision and guidance diploma program -The importance of program modification should take place in order focus more on training supervisors to acquire the competences as indicted by the present research. - Identify teaching strategies in the program to acquire students values competences related to the filed of supervision.
