The subject of the thesis is "The Examination and scrutiny of the Divan of the Poet Abi Is-haq Ibrahim bin Qais bin Suliman Al-Hamadani Al Hadhrami", one of Yemen's poets during the 5h Hijri Century. This Divan was previously known as AL saif Anaqad" The Critical Sword". During the preparation of this thesis, the writer referred to 8 ancient manuscripts, in addition to the version first published in the year 1906. The number of poems in the divan is 60. The total number of verses in the divan is 2933. The thesis contains a number of important chapters besides the scientific scrutiny of the poetry text. Amongst these chapters is the one about the biography of the Poet, which tackles the most important aspects of his life. A chapter to refute the historical suspicions arose in connection with his personality. Another chapter introduces the divan and the most prominent characteristics therein. A chapter about the goals of the examination, and the methods followed by the writer. It also contains a chapter describing the manuscripts that have been referred to during the examination, along with copies of some pages of these manuscripts, The writer, during the examination, has numbered the poems, determined their prosodical meters, and vowelized the words with grammatical short -vowels. In the margins, the writer noted down a lot of information such as: the discrepancies between the manuscripts, clarification of the meanings of uncommon words, interpretation of the Quranic Verses and the prophetic traditions quoted by the poet, or referred to in his poems. He also determined the location of the poetic license resorted to by the poet, and the biography of the individuals and the places mentioned by the poet in the poems. The writer also corrected many of the distorted words. The end of the thesis contains three indexes: the biography of the poet, the index of the places and the index of the poems.
