This study aimed to investigate Effectiveness of Strategies Based on the Habits of Mind in the Development of the skills of a high-Ordering Thinking (HOTs) and Attitudes Towards Science among 7th Grade Female Students. The sample consisted of (58) female students selected from Afra Ansariya (5-10) in South Al-Batinah Governorate. The sample was divided into two groups; experimental group (N=29) taught the science content by Strategies Based on the Habits of Mind and control group (N=29) taught the science content by the conventional method of teaching. The study lasted for seven weeks in the second semester of the academic year 2015/2016.
To achieve the study's aim, three research instruments were designed: teacher guide in the Strategies Based on the Habits of Mind for experimental group, a highordering thinking skills test and attitudes towards science scale which included organization, Making predictions, Analysis and Modeling of Data and Solving Open-Ended Problems. The reliability of the high-ordering thinking skills test was (0.78), whereas the reliability of attitudes towards science scale was (0.80).
The result of the study revealed that there were statically significant difference for the favour of the experimental group in (HOTs)between the experimental group students and the control group students, there were statically significant differences between the two groups in acquiring (HOT s) in organization, analysis and modeling of data and solving open-ended and the whole skills test in favour of the experimental group. The study also showed that there were statically considerable differences between pre and post (HOTS) test in in the whole test in favour of the experimental group. The result revealed that there were statically significant differences in the attitudes towards science scale at between the experimental group students and the control group students in the whole of scale in favour of the experimental group. The study also showed that there were statically considerable differences between pre and post attitudes towards science scale in three dimensions: enjoy by sciences, and appreciation of science and scientists and benefit of science and in the whole dimensions in favour of the experimental group. Accordingly, the study recommends that formulation the science curriculum content to include many activities that focus on the different habits of mind.
