This study aimed at standardizing the Cognitive Assessment System (brief 2nd ed.) for using it in screening students at risk for learning disabilities. It also sought to know the cognitive profile of students with learning disabilities. The sample consisted of two groups: normal students in grades 2 to 4 in basic education schools in Muscat governorate (n = 329) and students with learning disabilities (n = 284). Both groups consisted of males and females enrolled in the school year 2017/2018 The validity of the scale was checked through face validity and construct validity. The reliability of the scale was examined through internal consistency and test-retest. Two-way analyses of variance was conducted to examine the differences in the subtests of the Cognitive Assessment System (brief 2nd ed.) with respect to gender and education as well as age and gender. The norms for the sample of the study were obtained using percentile ranks based on index score of the subtests of the Cognitive Assessment System (brief 2nd ed.). Means and standard deviations were calculated to determine the cognitive profile of students with learning disabilities. Based on study results, a number of recommendations
and suggestions were offered.
