الملخص الإنجليزي
The aim of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties, factor structure, and norms of Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (FMPS) and to find the norms for Sultan Qaboos University students. Participants were 767 students (292 males and 475 females) from all colleges in the university. They answered the translated version of the FMPS. Also other scales were used to measure the validity of the FMPS. These scales were: the big five factors of personality scale, the type "A" personality scale, Kuwait University for anxiety scale, and the Arab obsessive -compulsive disorder scale. Data were analyzed using the Staistical Package for the social Sciences (SPSS). Exploratory factor analysis yielded six dimensions for the scale which explained (47.33%) of the variance. The scale reliability was measured using the test-re-test and internal consistency methods Cronbach's alpha was (0.83). Pearson's correlation coefficient between the scale and other scales Indicated statistically significant correlation with type "A" personality, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Because of a statistically significant difference between the scores of males and females, so separate norms (percentiles) were obtained for males and females. This scale will be suitable for measuring perfectionism among the Omani society.
