This study aimed at detecting the importance of action research for social studies supervisors and how do they apply it , in addition to that it aimed at identifing difficulties supervisors face and possible prospects for its development and activation in the educational supervision. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher followed the descriptive approach in the study, by designing a questionnaire consisting of (45) items distributed on four domains, namely:
The importance of action researchPractices of action research by supervisors. The difficulties of using action research.Possible prospects for developing and activating action research.
The tool has been applied on (92) Social Studies supervisors located around all of Sultanate of Oman educational districts.The main results of the study were:
- Recognition of Social Studies Supervisors of the reality ofaction research and the prospects for development is high. No statistically significant differences at the level (0,05) to the reality of action research and the prospects for the development for social studies supervisors due to the variables of gender, qualification and experience.Upon the results of the study the researcher suggested a number of recommendations and proposals to activate the action research in educational supervision.
