This study aimed to identify the degree of exposure of students at Nizwa University to the emotional depression and their relationship to the loss of meaning among a sample of students. Male and female students from the University of Nizwa, whose number was 5137, the samples were chosen in an accessible way by sending an electronic link to the university students,(329) females and (95)males .
To achieve the purposes of the study, the researcher applied two scales: Beck's depression scale (Arabization of Abdel-Khaleq, 1996), and Frankel's scale of the existential meaning of life, (Al-Shakri Arabization, 2011).
The results showed that the percentage of those whose emotional depression were high was (1.3 %) of the total sample of the study among University of Nizwa students . In addition, the dimension of experience value was first, in a higher degree than the situational and creative values of the meaningless variable in life.
The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) in the estimates of the study sample in the indicators of depression and loss of meaning feelings due to the variables of gender, school year, and specialization, in addition to the existence of a statistically significant relationship at the significance level (α≤ 0.05) between the emotional depression and loss of meaning among a sample of students from the University of Nizwa in the Sultanate of Oman. The researcher has developed a number of recommendations and proposals to facilitate the process of following up on disorder cases that deserve follow-up and that related to the emotional depression and their impact of loss of meaning in life, which may contribute in the future to the treatment of this problem.
