The aim of the study was to discover the alternative conceptions in physics and its relation to the level of logical thinking in sample of (478) students from the 11th grade in General Directorate of Education in Al-Dakhilia Governorate in school year 2018/2019. To achieve the objectives of the study, a descriptive approach was followed, and a valid and reliable test to reveal the alternative perceptions in the unit of motion and the laws of Newton, and a test of the logical thinking were prepared and applied on the subjects of the study.
The results of the study showed different types of alternative perceptions among the sample of the study. It also indicated that there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α = 0.05) between the average scores of students in the test of alternative perceptions and the level of educational acceptance. There are statistically significant differences in the level of students' performance in the test of alternative perceptions of gender variable in favor of females. The results also showed statistically significant differences at the level of (α = 0.05) in logical thinking skills and in the overall test of gender variable in favor of females, and finally the results showed that there was a significant correlation between the level of performance of students in the test of alternative perceptions of scientific concepts and their level of logical thinking, and in the light of the results The study recommended the need to identify alternative perceptions of students by teachers before starting the teaching, with the holding of courses and training programs for teachers in alternative perceptions and how to treat them, and interest in training students on logical thinking skills.
