This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the strategy of linking the Qur'anic words with pictures or representing them in movements to memorize and/or retrieve the Holy Quran among the students of the first cycle of basic education in the Sultanate of Oman, by answering the following questions:
1. What is the effectiveness of the strategy of linking the Qur'anic words with pictures in
memorizing the Holy Koran to the students of the first episode in the Sultanate of
Oman?
2. What is the effectiveness of the strategy of linking the Qur'anic words with pictures in
the retrieval of the Holy Koran to the students of the first cycle in the Sultanate of
Oman?
3. What is the effectiveness of the strategy of linking the Qur'anic words with its
kinesthetic representation in memorizing the Holy Quran to the students of the first
cycle in the Sultanate of Oman?
4. What is the effectiveness of the strategy of linking the Qur'anic words with its
kinesthetic representation in the retrieval of the Holy Quran to the students of the first cycle in the Sultanate of Oman?
In order to achieve the objectives of the study, a semi-curriculum was used for piloting, a Note Card was designed to measure the extent to which the fourth grade students can memorize two Sura (AL Naba and AL Nazi'at) as part of the Islamic Studies Curriculum and according to the holy Quran Memorization Standards (remembrance, ease of pronunciation, controlling the vowels and fluency). The study sample consisted of (48) Students, divided into two groups: the experimental group composed of (24) Students, studied using the strategy of linking the Qur'anic words in pictures or kinesthetic representation, the controlled group composed of (24) Students, who studied in the traditional method. The designed note card was used twice: immediately and then delayed after two weeks to check the retrieval of the Holy Quran.
The results of the study have shown statistically significant differences between the two study groups in their performance favoring the experimental group which used the strategy of linking the Qur'anic words with pictures in memorizing and retrieving the Holy Quran. Moreover, there are statistically significant differences between the two study groups in their performance favoring the experimental group which used the strategy of kinesthetic representation in memorizing and retrieving the Holy Quran.
Based on these results, the study recommends that the strategy of memorizing and retrieving the Holy Quran through linking the Qur'anic words with pictures and/or kinesthetic representation should be adopted as an effective strategy. It should be used in memorizing the Quran among the first cycle students and added to the teacher's guide.
